New Zealand-born screenwriter-director Andrew Niccol began his career in London, successfully directing TV commercials before moving to Los Angeles in order to make films "longer than 60 seconds." He interested high-powered producer Scott Rudin in his The Truman Show (1998) script, but Rudin was not willing to gamble on a rookie director, particularly when Jim Carrey came aboard, swelling the budget to about $60 million. Peter Weir helmed instead, bringing a complementary vision which lightened the material somewhat, and the clever satire, which followed a cheerful insurance man (Carrey) as he slowly realizes that all the people in his life are just actors in a TV show, opened to critical raves. Since the deal for "Truman" came together slowly, Niccol actually made his screenwriting and directing debut with Gattaca (1997) (1997), a superb, well-acted sci-fi movie that raised issues of genetic engineering in a totalitarian environment.- Actor

Born in New Zealand. Moved to Australia as a child and began acting at school. Won Honors in drama at St Leonard's college in Melbourne Australia. Moved to New York during his teens to live with his father. Later returned to NZ and then spent one year working in Los Angeles on various films with Director Phillipe Mora. Returned to New Zealand and started High Octane productions. First released High Octane 2000 a performance car DVD in 2000. Completed six High Octane titles until 2006. Then wrote, directed and starred in the feature film You Move You Die in 2007.- Christian Cullen burst onto the Rugby scene in 1996 where he debuted for the All Blacks against Samoa scoring 3 tries. In the ensuing 7 seasons, Christian Cullen has cemented himself as New Zealands all time leading try scorer, ahead of Jeff Wilson and John Kirwan. Currently (2002), Cullen plays at full back for the Wellington Hurricanes and is involved in a fierce battle for the New Zealand number 15 jersey with Leon Mcdonald from Canterbury.
Cullen is part Samoan, and was offered to be an honorary Chief in that country (which he declined). He is also the star of a number of Rebel Sport advertisments. At the age of 26 we hope that Cullen will remain on the rugby scene for a few more years to come, and continue to dazzle us all with his try scoring feats.
